How Online Casino Play Works in Ontario
Race nights and the Flamboro floor are the usual business of this guide. This page steps away from the track and looks at online casino play in Ontario.
It covers who runs what, who regulates it, and how to check any site yourself.
Part 1
Two Parts of One Market
Ontario's online casino market has two separate parts. OLG runs its own online casino at OLG.ca, which launched province-wide under the name PlayOLG. Private operators sit in the other part, and they work through iGaming Ontario.
That private market opened on April 4, 2022. iGaming Ontario conducts and manages the games those operators offer, and it holds their operating agreements. It does not run OLG.ca. Created in 2021 as a subsidiary of the AGCO, iGO became a stand-alone agency on May 12, 2025.
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario keeps regulatory oversight of iGO. The AGCO administers the Gaming Control Act, 1992, sets the internet gaming standards and registers operators and suppliers. On either side of the market, play is 19+.
Part 2
How to Check Any Site
Any online casino can be checked the same way. The public directory kept by iGaming Ontario lists registered operators and their gaming sites, and the AGCO links to it as well. That directory is where players confirm whether an operator is legal in Ontario. A site that has dropped off the list has most likely stopped operating in the province.
Advertising rules matter too. AGCO internet gaming standards limit where inducements and credits can be advertised. They may appear on the operator's own gaming site, or in direct marketing sent with the player's active consent. That rule has applied since the market opened, and it is one reason this guide shows none.
Part 3
About This Guide's Own Link
The home page of this guide carries one Play online button, marked Ad. It leads to an online casino run by a partner, and that partner can change. This site earns a commission when readers use it. The partner is not OLG.ca, and it is not the province.
Nothing like that appears on this page, or on any other inner page. The guide makes no claims about the partner beyond what is written here. Readers can look up that site, or any other, in iGaming Ontario's directory themselves. If play stops feeling like a night out, ConnexOntario offers free, confidential help 24/7 at 1-866-531-2600.

Questions
Is OLG.ca part of iGaming Ontario?
No, OLG.ca sits outside the iGaming Ontario market. OLG runs its own online casino separately, and iGO does not run it. iGaming Ontario handles the private operators instead.
How old do you have to be to play online casino games in Ontario?
The minimum age is 19, for online casino gaming and for online sports betting. The same 19+ rule applies at land-based casinos such as Elements Casino Flamboro. Lottery, charitable gaming and in-store sports betting are 18+.
