From Dundas, Flamboro is the short hop up Highway 5. Elements Casino Grand River is a different kind of outing. It sits at Grand River Raceway, 7445 Wellington County Rd 21, Elora. That is 59.3 km northwest of central Dundas in a straight line, not a road distance. From Flamboro Downs, the straight line measures 52.9 km.
The raceway is owned and run by the Grand River Agricultural Society, a not-for-profit. It opened in 2004, and the first race went off on April 24, 2004, on a 5/8-mile track. The guide gives no drive time, so plan the route yourself. Casino questions go to 519-846-2022.
Is it worth the trip? That depends on the evening you have in mind. Grand River pairs a summer harness meet with a floor of slots and electronic games, while Flamboro stays the nearer room.

What is on the floor
Slot machines and electronic table games make up the floor at Grand River. Roulette, baccarat, sic bo and blackjack all appear in electronic form. Great Canadian's directory lists no live table games here, so Flamboro regulars should not plan around a dealer. A high-limit slots area, a sportsbook kiosk and dining round out the listing. Entry to the casino is 19+.
Members of Great Canadian Rewards can use Comp Dollars at Grand River, and parking is complimentary. The casino floor is listed as always open, seven days a week, as at the other Elements rooms. Check the venue's page before setting out, especially on holidays.
Part 3
Summer racing next to Flamboro's nights
Grand River runs harness racing only, and live racing is a summer affair. Cards go on most Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights from June to September. The first race is at 6:20 p.m., with 10 to 12 races a night.
Flamboro Downs keeps a different rhythm. Racing there usually runs Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, with a 6:25 p.m. post time, outside its summer break. On paper the usual nights do not overlap, but check both race calendars before committing to an evening.
Simulcast racing runs year-round in The GrandWay Lounge, so the screens stay on after the live meet ends. Admission to live racing is free, and so is parking.
